Scout/Spy: (Class Calendar) The scout/spy (in a team setting) is "eyes and ears" of the team. Tracking and understanding human technological "sign" as it relates to learning about the size, intent and equipment of unknown individuals or communities, scouting during patrolling or group movement, rear scouting, long-range reconnaissance and deeper awareness are all a part of the scout specialty. The core concept of this specialty is awareness as it relates to both other humans, and to one's self. Learning how to observe primarily in a rural or wilderness setting, but also in an urban environment. Although it is a specialty that requires being comfortable in solitary isolation for long periods of time, it is also necessary to have "people skills" to be able to blend into an urban setting. This specialty also requires endurance and the ability to cover long distances on foot if necessary. |
